Many people across America celebrate Thanksgiving in many different ways such as different recipes and different places. One of my personal favorites is watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade before a delicious meal.

 Deviled eggs

 Ingredients

  • 12 large eggs

  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon minced shallot or onion

  • 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce

  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • Paprika, to taste

Directions

Steam the eggs:(See how to steam hard boiled eggs.) Fill a saucepan with an inch of water and insert a steamer basket. Bring the water to a boil and place the eggs in the steamer basket. (If you don't have a steamer basket, you can just place the eggs directly in about 3/4 inch of water.)Cover the pan and let the eggs steam from the boiling water for 17 minutes for 12 large eggs, or 15 minutes for 6 large eggs. Reduce cooking time by a couple minutes if using regular size (not large) eggs. Then shock with cold water and peel.

Prep the eggs: Peel the eggs. Using a sharp knife, slice each egg in half, lengthwise. Gently remove the yolk halves and place in a small mixing bowl. Arrange the egg white halves on a serving platter.

Make the filling: Using a fork, mash up the yolks and add mustard, mayonnaise, onion, tabasco, and a sprinkling of salt and pepper. Add more mayonnaise as necessary to get to the creamy consistency you want.

Pipe or spoon mixture into egg white halves: Pipe through a piping bag (star tip) or simply use a spoon to put the egg yolk mixture into the egg white halves. Sprinkle it with paprika.

Enjoy!

Southern style Mac and Cheese

 Ingredients

  1. Cook and drain elbow macaroni and place in a baking dish or pan.

  2. Make the custard mixture by whisking together milk, evaporated milk and eggs and some seasoning, pour mixture over macaroni.

  3. Add the butter, sour cream and three cheeses and stir to combine well.

  4. Top with more grated cheese and bake until bubbly and top is browned.

Recipe Notes and Tips

  • People swear by Velveeta in this recipe, do not use a substitute.

  • While pre-packaged shredded cheese works fine, grating your own is the better option.  It just melts better.

  • It's going to be oily on top after baking, that's how it is with real cheeses and butter.  If you think it's excessive, blot some up with a paper towel while it rests.

  • Reheats are great, just pop in the microwave.

  • This is filling and hearty enough to serve as the main dish but most often it is a side dish.  It's unbelievably good alongside collard greens and fried chicken! Delicious soulful macaroni and cheese doesn't get any better than this.

THE WISH BONE FROM THE TURKEY

After you and your family eat a wonderful meal inside that ruble of a turkey is a bone shaped like a u, it is a wish bone. First you and someone else grab each side and then make a wish after a fight over the bone and when you break it the person with the bigger half wins.

    Traveling

Some people like to travel to different places on Thanksgiving because it is a holiday and some of their family live on the other side of the USA so people like to travel to see friends and family.
