Students deprived of sleep
In many schools, students do not get enough sleep, so a study to make sure students are getting enough sleep was made, the team found out that 78% of students do not get the right amount of sleep in Missouri. Who performed the study?
Wendy Troxel performed a sleep study on teenagers with these findings: “Pediatricians and sleep specialists—such as the American Academy of Pediatrics—recommend a [school] start time of 8:30 a.m. or later for middle and high schools. Because adolescent circadian rhythms shift late (making it hard to fall asleep before 11:00 p.m.), waking teens before dawn mimics chronic jet lag.”
The main problem for this is caused by homework. Many students work at the last minute or last night to get caught up on their homework to make sure they do not fail, and this problem causes the student to panic and do it fast and might stress over it when turned in.
