Energy drinks can cause severe physical and psychological health risks towards high school students who exceed the recommended amount they should intake. While teens often use energy drinks for late night studying or work, the extreme amount of consumption could trigger cardiovascular stress, raise anxiety, and impact a proper sleep schedule. Over time as teens continue to consume energy drinks, they can adapt to a dangerous cycle of dependency towards these drinks. This increases dangerous conditions such as type 2 diabetes and dehydration, leading major medical organizations to suggest that energy drinks have no place in a teenager’s diet.
