Speech & Debate Team Excels at Happy Valley Invitational
Oct. 17, students from the Morristown-Hamblen Speech & Debate team traveled alongside the Meadowview Middle School team to compete at the Happy Valley Invitational in Elizabethton, TN.
The team earned two finals placements at the tournament:
Norelys Lopez Vasquez placed 6th in Impromptu Speaking.
Cherry Collins and Anthony Walters became the tournament champions in Duet Acting for the second competition in a row.
Collins and Walters are currently ranked #1 in the state and are on track to qualify for the THSSDL State Championship in April.
While the team does not compete again until late November, Morristown-Hamblen is hosting the annual Forensics Fall Festival on Saturday, Nov. 7 at East High.
The team is still looking for teachers to help out as volunteer judges for the event. No previous experience is required. Anyone interested in volunteering or looking for more information about the different events can email wexlerg@hcboe.net.
