Scholarships Updated For West High Students

Attention all seniors! Graduation will be here soon, and the next part of life is preparing to start. If students are interested in going to college it is a good idea to make sure are backed up financially. Scholarships are a great way to take the burden of school cost off one’s shoulders. As of January 13, 2020, here are the current scholarships available in the guidance counseling office. The deadlines are listed in order from the closet end date to the furthest

  • Jan. 22, 2020 National BETA Scholarships. Senior Beta Club members who are registered with national headquarters by Nov. first. Can apply at www.betaclub.org/scholarship. Deadline is Jan. 22, 2020.

  • Jan. 24, 2020 Tennessee Concrete Association. All students can participate. First place is $250 prize, second place is a $100 prize, and third is a $50 prize; all the winning essays will be featured in Tennessee Concrete Magazine. For more information and to apply visit www.tnconcrete.org. The deadline is Jan. 24, 2020.

  • Feb. 15, 2020 WACE National Co-Op Scholarship Program. Seniors must have a 3.5 or higher GPA, and must meet merit criteria in a specific institution. For more information visit https://www.waceinc.org/scholarship/. The deadline is Feb. 15, 2020.

  • Feb. 15, 2020 National DAR Scholarships. Visit https://www.dar.org/national-society/scholarships/general-info for a full list of scholarships available. For additional information contact Barbara Baker at (423)-581-9658 leave your name, message, and phone number. The deadline is Feb. 15, 2020.

  • Feb. 22, 2020 Kyle William Kiihnl Memorial Scholarship. Kyle Kiihnl lost his life to a driver who fell asleep behind the wheel. $1,000 scholarship is available for graduating seniors. A 400-word essay is required on the topic of driving drowsy. Visit the Counseling Office for information. The deadline is Feb. 22, 2020.

  • March 1, 2020 The General Federation of Women’s Clubs Tennessee Scholarship. This scholarship gives hard working and community involved students $1,000 in Tennessee. For applications and more information visit the Counseling Office. The deadline is March 1, 2020.

  • March 31, 2020 The Tennessee School of Beauty-C.B. Brown Scholarship Program. All high school students can apply but must have intentions to pursue a career in cosmetology. This is a full tuition scholarship. The deadline is March 31, 2020.

  • June 1, 2020 Barnes Law Firm. High school seniors must write a 500-word essay about their community involvement and must include a picture. The winner will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Visit https://www.johnbarneslaw.com/tennessee-scholarship/. The deadline is June 1, 2020.
