Native German teacher brings language and culture to the classroom

Steffen Kielau is a German teacher from Leipzig, Germany who believes “every student can reach their full potential with the right support from teachers, colleagues, or friends.” By the end of the year, he hopes his students will have a solid foundation in the basics of the German language. Kielau believes everyone has unique strengths and talents; the only real weakness is not recognizing one’s own potential. He loves sharing his culture and bringing people together, and is deeply passionate about teaching.

Kielau enjoys the Huge Lakes and the rolling hills of Morristown, Tennessee, saying “it's similar to home and notes that people here tend to be especially friendly.” His favorite American food is a good Angus steak, though he finds many U.S. desserts too sweet. Among his favorite German treats are Greek yogurt cheesecake and apple strudel.
