Meet French: Teacher with many interests
Mr. French is a student teacher who is working toward becoming a full-time educator. He has many different interests and hopes to share some of them with his future students. He enjoys learning about a variety of subjects and thinks it would be fun to teach topics that students are already interested in.
French has worked hard to build his education. He earned an Associate of Science degree in General Studies from Walters State Community College. After that, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology with a focus on Product Development from East Tennessee State University. He is currently finishing his Master of Arts in Teaching in Curriculum and Instruction for grades 6–12 at Carson-Newman University. He is also working toward getting his teaching license in Business and Technology Education. Even though French plans to focus on teaching, he is also interested in exploring other opportunities. His background in engineering technology and product development could allow him to work in business or develop new ideas in the future. He likes the possibility of using the skills he has learned in different ways. After finishing his student teaching, French hopes to continue working at West High School. However, he said he would be happy to teach anywhere that gives him the opportunity. His main goal is to have a career in education and help students feel supported while they learn.
Outside of teaching, French enjoys playing video games, watching movies, and keeping up with television shows. When he has free time, he likes playing games from his childhood, such as Ratchet & Clank from 2002, Jak and Daxter, and Sly Cooper. He enjoys many different types of movies, but some of his favorites include Christopher Nolan’s “ The Dark Knight trilogy”, movies made by Laika, and the 1986 “Transformers” movie. He is also currently watching “Avatar: The Seven Havens.” He grew up watching the original Avatar series and its follow-up, so the franchise has been important to him for a long time. Mr. French’s favorite food is lasagna, which is something he jokingly has in common with Garfield. Overall, French has a wide variety of interests, from education and technology to video games and movies. His different experiences and hobbies help make him an interesting person and teacher.
