Deadly Tornadoes Rip Through Middle Tennessee

Early March 3, 2020 multiple tornadoes ripped through Middle Tennessee destroying hundreds of homes and killing at least 24. The National Weather Service said one of the tornadoes reached speeds of 175 mph, rating it an EF4, which is the second most powerful tornado rating with EF5 being the highest.


According to USA Today, there were 24 storm related deaths and 88 injured in Putnam County. The Tornadoes left hundreds of people homeless, and knocked out power for nearly 50,000 people.


Sophomore Abigail Lamb stated, “I feel like the tornadoes in Nashville were really bad, but we will make a fast and strong recovery.”

Sophomore Zach Barg stated, “I hope everyone will recover from that horrible tornado.”


Many relief efforts are going on right now to help those affected by these deadly tornadoes including ones right here at Morristown West. More details about these efforts will be released soon.
