Prom April 25th 8-11pm at Landing

West High Prom/Homecoming Dress Guidelines

  • Strapless and small-straps are permitted, however, the neckline must not go below the breasts in the front nor be too revealing for a school event.

  • The sides must cover from the waist to the armpit with opaque (not see-through) material that fully covers the side of the breast.

  • The back of the dress must not fall below the natural waistline, which is even with your belly button.

  • Short dresses and slits must reach at least mid-thigh. Mid-thigh is defined as halfway between the crease at your hip and your kneecap.  This includes after walking. If you have to shimmy it down after walking in order to reach mid-thigh, it is too short!

  • Dress fabric cannot be see-through, except for areas that don’t require coverage. For example, if the bottom of the dress is see-through, there must be a solid layer underneath that comes to at least mid-thigh.

  • For two piece dresses, the top band of a skirt or pants must fall above the belly button all the way around. No more than 2 inches of skin may be showing above it.

  • Cutouts in dresses must not reveal any areas required to be covered by other parts of these guidelines.

  • Material must not be extremely tight or thin - undergarments must be worn, but should not be visible through it.
