Huge news is ahead for West High’s music department! Two of West’s very own Trojans, Porter Stuart and Dylan Moore, just made it into the TN All-State Band. This is a huge deal because it means they are some of the best players in all of Tennessee. This April, they’ll head off to the state competition to show everyone what they can do.
Stuart is in 10th grade and made it in for his skills with the bass clarinet. He’s worked super hard to master that big instrument, and all that practice clearly worked out. Stuart plays five instruments.
Moore is a 10th grader who made it with his saxophone skills. Moore has been doing music for a long time. He started piano lessons when he was only six years old. Even though he’s played for about 10 years and knows the piano, he likes the saxophone best. He says his favorite part of the band is being part of the jazz program.
Making it to All-State is really tough, and West High is so proud of them for getting picked. They are taught by Band Director Jared Box. Good luck to Stuart and Moore in April!
