One recurring detail throughout Harshbarger’s speech was how students can preserve their integrity and character. Harshbarger shared, “You will not go anywhere, if you don’t set standards for your moral integrity.” Harshbarger expressed what it takes to be successful in both the business and political world. In light of the upcoming election Harshbarger also shared that, “Legislation matters, words matter, and/or matters, even the smallest words in the English dictionary, make a big difference.”
Harshbarger goes on to mention that being task-oriented and being able to multitask will help students succeed in the future. She shared, “It's hard to step away from a good life, but there’s a bigger mission…” After giving her encouraging speech, Harshbarger also recognized Morristown-West’s Teacher of the Year, Nicole Owens, and awarded her a recognition letter.
