Arts Brings Creativity in high school

In Tennessee, all public high schools mandate that students earn one art credit to graduate. At Morristown West, students can choose from Visual Art, Band, Choir, Media Arts, and Theatre Arts.

Compared to activities like construction, sports, and business, art in schools can often be overlooked. However, it provides students with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and imagination. Art allows for self-expression in numerous ways. It can be one of the most relaxing activities available, although it can also be somewhat stressful compared to other activities. Many individuals have gained fame and built careers through art, earning money by sharing their creativity on social media.

In the spring, the arts department showcases their talents during an art night open to the public. Mr. Hogan is the choir instructor, Mr. Box teaches band, Ms. Reed and Mrs. Weidman teach art, Mr. Todd leads theater arts, and Mrs. Gatlin and Mrs. Whaley instruct digital arts.
