What Students Actually Think About Spirit Week Themes

Spirit Week. That one week where the school acts like we’re all this big, happy family instead of a bunch of teenagers barely surviving 7:45 a.m. algebra with too much caffeine and zero sleep.

But honestly? Not all Spirit Week themes are equal. Some are straight-up fire. Others? Fashion disasters that make you wonder who picked these themes and if they’ve ever met a real teenager.

Throwback & Adam Sandler Day

Throwback Day is basically the best because it’s super chill. Students can show up in whatever decade you want — 2000s low-rise jeans? Bedazzled hair? Go for it. Wanna rock neon like it’s the ‘80s or pretend you’re at a Nirvana concert in ‘93? Also cool.

“I like Throwback Day because it’s nice seeing all the different cultures and styles of Throwback Day,” another student said.

But the surprise MVP? Adam Sandler Day. Who knew dressing like a middle-aged dude on his way to grab bagels would be the look? Oversized gym shorts, basketball shoes, hoodies that scream “I gave up but I’m comfy” — finally, a theme where most of us didn’t have to change anything.

“Adam Sandler Day is honestly the easiest — I could just wear my usual hoodie and shorts and still fit right in,” said one student.

Camo Day…

Now, about Camo Day. Total flop. First off, no one can even see each other. Second, it’s just an excuse to wear that one camo hoodie you bought at Bass Pro Shops like five years ago. Zero creativity, zero fun, and honestly, how do you even know if someone’s trying?

“Camo Day is just too boring. Everyone already dresses up in camo so what’s the point if it’s worn daily,” another student pointed out.

Plus, half the school wears camo all the time anyway, so is it even a theme? Feels more like a normal day...

In the end, Spirit Week is all about breaking the routine — even if some themes hit differently than others. Whether you’re rocking a vintage tee, channeling your inner Adam Sandler, or just surviving another day of camo blending, it’s those little moments that make the school year a bit more memorable.
