Morristown’s Arrowhead church will unveil its student band Sunday, Feb. 26th. The student band plays regularly for Fuse, the church’s youth group, but for the first time, the band will be led by students during a Sunday service. With West High freshman Eli Shoun playing drums, freshman Lilah Biery singing and junior Luke Davis on bass guitar. Students from other Morristown area schools also fill the band’s ranks.
The youth band will play on this particular Sunday because of an event called Motown Madness, a weekend youth conference held in the greater Lakeway area. Students stay at host homes with their small group and attend services. They return to their “home church” on Sunday.
Shoun has been an active participant in the youth band for roughly six months, about half the time he has been playing drums. Shoun said he, “...learned to drum by one of the drummers that play on Sunday, and I mostly practiced on the set at Arrowhead Church.” He, like most of the other band members, is nervous yet optimistic about the services.
