The West High Robotics team attended a Drone Tournament on February 27 at the ETSU Basler Center for Physical Activity in Johnson City. The team included Maverick Dojcsak, Jaiden Bolton, Brady Ehret, Zeke Swearengin, Andrew Charmichael, Blake Jones and Odie Tiedman. The drones had to go through a series of tests and obstacles in order to gain points. Some of the different tasks included a pipe that needed to be swapped out and turned on, gathering vegetables and placing them in the box, and a solar panel that needed to have leaves cleared off of it and then be moved into its proper place. In all tests and trials, you could only have one robot and one drone. Overall, it was a great experience for the whole team and everyone enjoyed the tournament. Congratulations to the whole team for working hard and winning first place in the tournament and thank you to Mr. Hawkins for sponsoring the robotics club.
