Trojan Hall of Fame Inductees’ Journeys from West High to Successful Entrepreneurs

Mr. Mark Cowan

Mark Cowan, graduated in 1983 from Morristown West High. During his time here, he was the drum captain and captain of the basketball team.

Following high school, Mark attended the University of Tennessee, where he pursued a double major in Political Science and Computer Science. He then went on to attend Harvard, in which he was the first person to teach a computer class for law students.

After graduating, Mark continued in the legal world. In 1997, he co-founded the law firm Swanson and Cowan, LLP, which quickly gained a reputation. Over the past 35 years, he has continued in law.

However recently he has been developing an app for lawyers using the Apple developer program.


Mr. James Craine

James Craine, former West High student excelled both academically and athletically. At West High he played basketball, cross country, and track. Academically he won first place in a state FFA Creed Speaking Contest. It was an ability to inspire people with a word contest. After high school he attended the University of Tennessee and then graduated with summa cum laude in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Craine is the president of Morristown Area of Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, and HC Excel. He has many successful business and commercial rental properties including the redevelopment of the largest structures of downtown Morristown. Outside of work he is a member of the First Presbyterian Church and has a wife, three kids, and seven grandkids. Craine also is very committed to community service.


Mr. Mike Fishman

R. Michael Fishman is a dedicated community leader, journalist, and civic advocate whose roots in Morristown, Tennessee, run deep. A 1983 graduate of Morristown-Hamblen High School West, Fishman distinguished himself not only as a multi-sport athlete but also as a scholar and leader. He was honored as "Mr. Motown West," served as president of the National Football Foundation's Scholar-Athlete program, and was a champion wrestler. His involvement extended to the Beta Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, underscoring his commitment to both academic excellence and community service.

After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration from East Tennessee State University in 1988, Fishman returned to his hometown to make a lasting impact. He currently serves as the Editor and Publisher of the Citizen Tribune, the daily newspaper that has been a staple of Morristown since 1966. Additionally, he holds the position of Vice President at Lakeway Publishers, overseeing operations of multiple publications across Tennessee and Virginia.

Fishman is deeply involved in community service. He chairs the Morristown-Hamblen Hospital Foundation Board, Additionally, Fishman has served as a board member and past president of HC*EXCELL. Fishman's commitment to local journalism and community development reflects his belief in the power of informed citizens and collaborative efforts to improve quality of life. His leadership continues to shape the future of Morristown, ensuring that the community remains connected, informed, and engaged.




Mr. David Wild

David Wild, a Morristown West high school alumni, graduated in 1979.  He attended Walters State and the University of Tennessee. Wild is a founding member of West High Trojan Army.  He is part of the board of directors for the Boys and Girls club for 25 years. Wild is a part of the First Baptist Church and helps with Young Life in the Lakeway area. He grew Morristown’s based Wild Building Construction where he is president. Wild has a wife named Stacy. He also has three children Lance(Holly), Logan, and Lindsey. Wild is a proud grandad to his four grandchildren.
