Students prepare for ACT with incentives offered
The ACT is an important test for all students as it is a requirement for graduation in Tennessee. All Juniors will be taking the ACT for the first time around Spring. However, seniors will retake the ACT Oct. 20, 2026.
Before Seniors start preparation it is recommended to look back at previous test results if they have taken the ACT already. Identify the two weakest sections from the results to better understand where students struggle and can put their study time more effectively.
It is recommended that all students months or so before the ACT fix their sleeping schedule. Most students tend to have jumbled up sleep schedules causing a lack of sleep which can affect their way of not only studying but their daily activities outside of school. By being able to sleep and wake up at a regular time students will efficiently work and learn better.
Being able to manage time wisely will lead a student to a successful score. Students should maintain a balance in life such as managing their time with work, activities, hangouts so that they can better use their time without worrying about cramming it all in a single night. For busy students who may not have time for long hour study sessions it is recommended that you plan for light 45 minutes or less of study time.

Taking practice tests can benefit students by better practicing on subjects they struggle on improving on understanding questions and managing time.

Morristown West High will also give students more reasons to prepare and work towards improving their ACT scores. West will be offering several incentives for students who reach certain ACT & ASVAB scores. These offers include a district-wide field day, a Dollywood trip, a single $100 gift card or $20 including a potential drawing for larger prizes, and more to be announced!
