Senior Year Success: How To Make Senior Year Unforgettable

As the class of 2026 prepares for adulthood, they all have one goal their senior year: make it count. Their last year of school is a big one, all the friends and memories they’ve made since they were little kids on their first day of preschool have led up to this year. And every year, the seniors want to make the most of it however they can. Here are nine ways to make senior year absolutely unforgettable!

Senior Sunrise

They say your senior year starts when the sun comes up and ends when the sun goes down. So at West High, we want to make that sunrise special. During the first few weeks of senior year, all seniors are welcome to attend the Senior Sunrise event on the track before the school day starts. Breakfast and music will be provided as the new senior class gets to watch the sunset.

Football Games

Every fall, the Trojan football team put their pads on, slip on their cleats, and play their hearts out on Fridays. All home games are played at Burke- Tony Stadium and are free for students who bring their Student ID. The football games are a great way to spend time with classmates and friends while showing off school spirit!

Clubs

West High offers just about any club you can think of. From Anime Club to JROTC, there’s something for everyone. Clubs are a great way to meet some great people and bond over common interests. Believe it or not, clubs can even supply a lot of insight on what to pursue after high school.

Free College App Week

Every September, local colleges and universities give students the opportunity to submit an application free of cost. A lot of schools charge a fee to apply. But during College App Week, all seniors will be given the information needed to apply for these schools for free. Any current or upcoming seniors may talk to their counselor for any and all information!

Homecoming Week

Every year, the Football Team holds a whole Homecoming Week! Not only do we hold a ceremony during that week’s football game where we crown the West High Homecoming court, the whole week is filled with fun events! Every day is dress up day during Homecoming week, each day with unique themes and categories. We hold a Homecoming tailgate to hang out and have breakfast with friends all morning. And we have a pep rally to celebrate homecoming week. Be sure to get involved with all you can during Homecoming Week!

Plays And Choir Concerts

West High holds multiple choir concerts and theater productions every semester. Choir and theater are great extracurricular activities to help meet new people, make new memories, and be a part of something for all to see. If the opportunity to participate in those activities passes by, coming to watch the concerts and shows are a great way to support the school and the students, and they’ll create great memories to never forget.

College Tours

Once senior year begins, the school will provide many opportunities to tour and research local colleges. These are a great way to get a better idea of what to do after high school and where to plan the next few years. These opportunities will appear many times throughout senior year, so be on the look out for them!

Talent Show

During the spring semester, auditions will be held for the annual talent show! Students with the best acts will be chosen to perform in front of the whole school, and whoever is chosen as the best act of them all will win a cash prize! Have a talent to show off? Be on the lookout for auditions to roll around!

Prom, a time where everyone gets a chance to feel like royalty for a night. West High School’s prom, which will be held during the spring semester, is a great way to have fun with friends, make special connections, and it’s truly a night to remember. Juniors and seniors will both be welcomed to the prom, while freshman and sophomores must have been invited to attend.

The best advice on anything comes from those who’ve experienced it first hand. Which is why the Class of 2025 had some advice to give to the current and upcoming Trojan Seniors.

“Don’t expect to have everything figured out, take the future one step at a time. However, the life you want is never granted, so make sure you work hard for it.” - Richard Robas, Class of 2025

“Find a passion and turn that passion into a goal and continue working towards that goal even if the end doesn’t seem bright.” - Braylen Hackathorn, Class of 2025

“People always say that senior year is so bad, but I would just say not to overwork yourself and don’t slack off and it’ll be a blast. And don’t be afraid to try new things and be yourself. It’s your last year, so go make the most of it!” - Heidi Brooks, Class of 2025
