Ms. Tammy Ripley is selected to participate in the Tennessee State Library and Archives in-person summer teacher institute! The conference will be held in Nashville at the new Tennessee State Library and Archives Building on June 8 and 9. The conference will focus on Tennessee and American history, as well as primary sources and how they may be utilized in the classroom. Dr. Rebecca Drinnon sent out details about the conference and after reading through, Ripley was impressed with what she could learn. She believed this was an opportunity that could not be passed up so with determination and hope, she submitted an application.

Her determination soon paid off as she received the email that she had been selected. “I squealed with excitement when I got the email,” Ripley said, “It made my week!” She is very excited and cannot wait to see the impact this opportunity will have on her as an instructor. Ripley also believes that the conference will be beneficial for her students as well. “I totally believe that the opportunity will change the way I teach my students. By seeing new portals of information and ways to present primary source materials, I think my government and US History students will benefit from me attending this conference.”

West High is extremely proud of Ms. Ripley and can not wait to hear all about this adventure she will soon embark upon.
