Meet Ellie Mitchell, Homecoming Queen of 2024

Congratulations to Ellie Mitchell on her newfound royalty as West High’s queen. On Oct. 4, 2024, Mitchell was crowned homecoming queen of 2024 with Charlie Dewald as her escort. Mitchell was also escorted by Dewald on the homecoming court her freshman year of high school. She is very involved at West High. Mitchell is a part of the Student Council, Beta Club, French Club, Interact Club, Young Life, Arrowhead Youth, and club volleyball. If Mitchell had to describe herself in one word it would be loyal.

Mitchell was motivated by her past experiences on homecoming court to run for queen. She states, “Being on homecoming court is such an exciting and memorable experience. I was so honored to be nominated by my class and chosen as queen by the student body.” West High has continued this memorable effect for Mitchell throughout high school. She comments, “My favorite memories from West High include homecoming weeks, football games, dances, helping with all these events with Student Council, and building new friendships.”

Mitchell has enjoyed French, English classes, and peer tutoring for special needs students the most at West. Mitchell has many accomplishments to be proud of. She expresses, “Some accomplishments I am proud of are maintaining a high GPA, being named as an AP Scholar, taking on leadership roles, participating in missions work and community service, and being accepted into college honors programs.” Outside of school, Mitchell spends her time with photography, photo editing, traveling, reading, writing, playing volleyball, attending sporting events, and working out.

After graduating from West High school, Mitchell plans on majoring in Communications at a four-year university. After what is soon to be four years at West, Mitchell states, “High school has taught me that in the future, I want to be involved in a variety of activities and pursue my passions while building new relationships and making contributions locally and globally.” Mitchell shares some advice for students striving for a successful high school career. She explains, “I would encourage students to engage in as many activities as they can while prioritizing planning for their futures. Make friends with as many of your peers as possible and get to know your teachers. It makes the high school experience much more enjoyable and you'll make connections that will last beyond your high school years.”
