West High is excited to welcome Amber Weidman as the newest member of our Visual Arts department. Originally from New York, Amber recently made the move to Morristown, inspired by family ties and a longstanding encouragement from her grandmother, who often reminded her that “Tennessee needs teachers.”
Weidman brings a diverse background in education, having taught Elementary Art, STEM, and Special Education in New York. Now, she’s thrilled to focus solely on art with high school students. “It’s nice to just focus on one,” she says, after juggling multiple roles in previous positions.

In her HS1 Visual Art classes, Weidman is currently assessing students’ skills and organizing her classroom, having only joined West High a few weeks ago. She’s eager to build strong connections and appreciates the support of colleagues as she adjusts to a new school system. “Just being open to a million questions really helps,” she shares.
Outside of school, Weidman enjoys crocheting, reading, and baking. She and her family recently began fostering a sweet pup named Whisper from a local shelter. She also hopes to revive her Spanish skills to better connect with her students and has a long-term goal of bringing a ceramics program to the school.
Welcome to West High, Ms. Weidman! we’re glad to have you!
