Congratulations to this year's winners of the Mr. and Miss West senior superlative, Will Hunley and Ellie Howard. “It feels so great to be Mr. West! It feels really cool to be recognized this way,” stated Hunley. Though seniors are elected by their peers, both Hunley and Howard have worked extremely hard over four years to earn their title.
Senior, Will Hunley, is a Who’s Who candidate that was elected by the senior class to be Mr. West High. For the past four years Hunley has been involved in Advanced Choir, Beta Club, National Honors Society, Scholars Bowl, and he also currently serves as the president of all these clubs. One of Hunley’s greatest memories here at West was when he won the Student Body President. After high school, Hunley plans on attending Walters State in the fall to earn his associates in teaching K-5. He will then transfer to attend Western Governors School University through the, “Tomorrow's Teacher,” program to receive his bachelors in elementary education. Lastly, Hunley shared one thing that he will miss once he graduates high school, “I will miss seeing all of my friends everyday. I will also miss the amazing teachers that I have grown close to.”
Ellie Howard who is also a Who’s Who candidate was elected to be Miss West. When asked how it felt to win she shared, “It’s very exciting! My dad was Mr. MHS when he was in high school, so it’s really cool to be given a title similar to his.” Howard has been involved in West High by being on both JV and Varsity cheerleading teams. She is also a member of the Beta Club, the National Honors Society, and Advanced Choir. Howard also participated in DECA as well as student council. One of Howard’s favorite memories was the East- West game this year, she stated, “ After last year, when everything was different from COVID, it was the first thing that felt normal again. We were all able to be together to cheer on the Trojans and celebrate a big win for our last one.” Howard plans on attending either ETSU or Liberty University, she still has not decided, and though she will major in either digital marketing or graphic design, her dream job is to be a princess for Disney World.
