Hopkins Announced New Choir Teacher

By Brandon Shepard

West High would like to welcome Ms. Kaitlyn Hopkins as the as the new Choir Director! A native of West High, Hopkins was more than excited to return as a teacher. Hopkins graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in Vocal Music Education and wanted to be a teacher for various reasons. “I wanted to become a teacher because A, I love music and singing and B, I genuinely care about students and want to help guide them throughout high school and into the higher education and the work force!” She said, ‘I combined the two things I care most about and decided that my dream job was to teach high school choir.”

Hopkins also shared a bit about her background. “I have an awesome set of parents, one younger sister, and an Australian Shepherd named Milo!” Hopkins is also engaged and will be married in June of this year. In her free time, she loves to attend church, spend time with her friends and family, and even relax and watch Netflix.

She would also like to encourage everyone to join choir. “It’s a great place to sing, learn about music, connect with other people and have a good time doing it,” Hopkins expressed, “I know many people whose best memories come from their high school choir experience.”

Once again West High welcomes and thanks Ms. Hopkins to join our faculty and family as the Choir Director!
