Hamblen County Youth Leadership Program Provides Great Opportunities For Juniors

The Youth Leadership Hamblen County Program(YLHC) at Morristown-West is a program that offers junior leaders an opportunity to network with community leaders, sharpen their soft skills, learn more about the community around them, and ultimately strengthen their resume for college and job applications. The Youth Leadership program is available to any upcoming high school Junior. Applications are due on or before Friday, April 29, 2022 in the West High front office.

Becca Landefeld, Morristown-West Junior, shares, “Joining youth leadership will do nothing but benefit you, and even get you out there in your community and get you to meet many new people! I would definitely recommend joining, this program opened up so many opportunities for me. It will do the same for others.” Youth Leadership members also had the opportunity to meet with Congresswoman, Diana Harshbarger, on April 11, 2022 and listen to a speech given to inspire young leaders of the community.

YLHC has previously offered many fun activities to interact with the community such as rock climbing, Nerf wars, and many more! Landefeld expressed, “One of my favorite memories is the nerf gun war we had with our superintendent in the gym of West High.” When asked if club meetings and activities interfered with school, Landefeld replied, “It was very easy to keep up with school work during the program, the leaders are very understanding and don't hold it against you if you miss a meeting, especially if it was because of schoolwork.” Schedule for program events for the 2022-2023 school year is available below:
