The Hamblen County Youth Leadership Program (HCYL) is a program offered to upcoming juniors that establishes vital social connections and leadership opportunities. Students in HCYL are able to connect with leaders in industry, government, and education officials in not just Hamblen County, but many other places as well. It also offers practical advice for future career readiness, including seminars on college applications, business etiquette, and other fun group activities. The program is a favorable experience to put on college or even work resumes.
HCYL also works around students' extracurricular schedules. From sports to other academic clubs, HCYL should be an easily manageable addition to any student’s junior year. All West High sophomores were emailed detailed information about how to apply for the program. They are highly encouraged to do so. The provided email should include: an application packet, an event calendar, and deadline information. Applications to the program are due March 31, at 3:30pm.
