Shepard believes she was elected for this title because she “tries to keep everything positive, and with that, I believe that everyone should have a great time, all of the time.” She says “If you would have told my kindergarten teacher that I would be West High’s “Life of the Party”, she would have called you crazy.” Shepard states that her friends describe her as confident because she “doesn't care about what others think.” Shepard sees herself as a social butterfly, where she “brings optimism and spirit not only to the student body but my community.” Shepard sees no one as a stranger. She explains, “I treat everyone like a close friend.” She also mentions “I don’t like to see people alone, so I will always include everyone.” Shepard notes that she loves dancing, “Dancing at these formals has brought me so many new friends.” She explains, “I don’t think I could choose just one genre or artist, but I can always bust out some moves to “Whip and Nae-Nae” by Silento and “Crank That” by Soulja boy.”
