Adding Up Success: West High Trojans Lead the Way in Math Competition

The Mathematics Department at Morristown West High School is pleased to announce the students who ranked in the Top 10 in the Tennessee Mathematics Teachers’ Association Annual High School Mathematics Competition, hosted by Carson-Newman University.

In the Calculus division, Daniel Zheng claimed the top score, with Eli Shoun, William Morrison, Emma McClellan, and Lance Crider also earning spots among the Top 10. In the Statistics division, Greyson Kraus, Winnie Lin, Banesa Flores Hernandez, and Haylie Maradiaga Savala each placed in the top ranks. In Algebra 2, Braden Ross and Darren Zheng finished in 1st and 2nd place, respectively. In the Pre-Calculus division, Carlos Esquilin Santiago and Amelia Brianna Smith both earned placements, while Lexa Gennocra secured a spot in Geometry.

In addition, Daniel Zheng placed ninth in the East Tennessee Region on the Calculus and Advanced Topics examination.
