Puyo Puyo™ is a Falling block puzzler first made in Japan (and very popular there), made first by Compile™ It first originated from a dungeon crawler game (madou monogatari™) which uses the same characters from the compile™ era and then now owned by SEGA™ which uses a new cast including old ones, first made in 1991-1992 but as well as some of you first recognize this game as "Kirby's avalanche™” and “Dr. Robotnik’s mean bean machine™” for Genesis™ and Super Nintendo™ but Puyo Puyo™ has a lot more in stock for games, adventures and more. This series is something like Tetris™ but a bit different using these little blobs named “Puyo” turning, letting them fall and making chains to make the other person's board filled with nuisance.
Puyo is competitive yet fun and also makes one use their nice thinking, fast pacing into good use and also having a variety of rulesets to make things rolling. It has an anime art style, funny little stories and adventures of really expressible characters from every game like “Arle Nadja” “Amitie” “Schezo” etc. in the series all the way from the Sega Genesis™ and arcades to 6th and 7th generation the modern consoles. The community is very expressive and competitive from time to time, but it's really awesome either from Japan or the west. This little fun puzzle game deserves a spin once in a lifetime! It is really fun if one likes Tetris™ or Dr. Mario™.
The games I personally recommended if one is looking for a good game to start in the series are: “Puyo Puyo Tetris™” (first or second game) or “Puyo Puyo 2™”. Happy 35th anniversary to this Underrated Puzzler gem “Puyo Puyo™”!
