Thursday, August 19th, 2021, the freshman class at West High School elected new class officers for Student Council. These new members are Isabella Picardi (Freshman Class President), Braden Polk (Freshman Class Vice President), Ellie Mitchell (Freshman Class Secretary), Maggie Purgason (Freshman Class Historian), Olivia Epps (Freshman Class Representative), and Bryson Shepard (Freshman Class Representative). “I am super excited to work with these new officers to make this the best year possible! I know these officers will be a valuable addition to the council! West High has certainly made the right choice to represent them this upcoming year!” William Hunley, student body president, exclaimed.
Isabella Picardi is the freshman class president. She ran for this position because she felt like she would be a good fit for it, and if she didn’t, she would regret it. She went to Lincoln Heights Middle School and she is looking forward to participating in Speech and Debate and competing on West High’s track team.
Braden Polk is the freshman class vice president. He ran for this position because he felt that he would be a good fit for this position and his sister, Briana Polk, is also on the Student Council as a Junior Class Representative. He attended West View Middle School and is looking forward to participating in future Student Council meetings and projects.
Ellie Mitchell is the freshman class secretary. She ran for this position because she enjoys writing and taking notes and she has great listening skills. She wanted to take an active role in the student community. She is excited to attend sporting events, both as a player and a spectator. She attended West View Middle School and is on the JV Volleyball team and a travel volleyball team outside of school.
Maggie Purgason is the freshman class historian. She ran for this position because she wanted to be able to connect and share with the school. Her sister, Ruby Purgason, is also on the Student Council as the Senior Class Historian. She attended West View Middle School. Outside of school, she likes to read and hang out with her friends, and is currently on the Speech and Debate team at school.
Olivia Epps is one of the freshman class representatives. She ran for this position because she felt like she would be a good person for this position and she wants the freshmans’ opinions to be voiced on the Student Council. Outside of school, she likes to hang out with her friends and go on adventures. She attended West View Middle School and she is currently not involved in any other clubs or activities besides Student Council.
Bryson Shepard is the other freshman class representative. He ran for this position because he heard great things about the Student Council. He attended West View Middle School and he enjoys playing baseball. He is excited about the football games this year and he is on the baseball team.
