NEXT STEPS FOR COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENTS

May 1 was National College Decision Day. This is the date by which many colleges and universities, including the University of Tennessee, require students to confirm their desire to attend the school by completing some type of formal acceptance of the admissions offer and by paying an enrollment deposit. If the school you plan to attend has given you this decision deadline, be sure to confirm your enrollment and pay your enrollment deposit by this date. After you make a decision about which school to attend, regularly check your e-mail and student account (with the college) to see about signing up for orientation, securing housing, submitting immunization records, etc. If you have received special education services (IEP) or have a 504 plan and think you want to request accommodations in college, be sure to contact the disability services coordinator at the school you plan to attend. While your IEP or 504 plan will not follow you to college, it is a good idea to request a copy from your case manager prior to graduation and keep it in a safe place. It may provide supporting information to a college if you request accommodations.

TN PROMISE COMMUNITY SERVICE

In order to stay eligible for the TN Promise Scholarship, students must complete and submit 8 hours of community service before July 5, 2023. Students do not turn these hours in to the Counseling Office - they submit them on-line here. Students should keep track of the following information related to their community service so that they have what they need for on-line submission: place, date, number of hours, supervisor's name, supervisor's phone number, and supervisor's e-mail address. More information may be found on the TN Promise website.

Visit the school's website for scholarship information.
