Eleven students represented West High School at the Leadership Summit and competed in three events. Among those students, Zoe Kraus, Catherine Lomot, Katie Tran and Kristen Davis participated in the Project Proposal competition. Michaela Sigler, Lily Hale, and Tyler Williamson competed in the Lead Outside the Box event. Derek Gammel, Gage Livesay, Nick Barber, and Drew Anderson also qualified with their Communication Connection project.

All of West’s Youth Leadership Summit representatives received a plaque and now have the opportunity to attend the aforementioned national conference with their peers who won events on the state level in November.

Staff advisor Andrea Wice shared some of her thoughts on West’s chances at nationals, “I think we have a really good chance at Nationals. We have a really talented group of students going, and it’s the most students we have ever had to qualify in the history of all of West High School so Mrs. Owens and I are really excited for them and extremely proud of them as well.”
