Varsity Basketball Gears Up For Coming Season

The Varsity Basketball season begins Nov 19. Coach Johnny Galyon approaches the season with a cautious optimism, stating, “Practice has been going really well. We had a good summer as a team and are just trying to get better as we get closer to our first game. We have some girls that played last year that are a year older and they should be a lot better because they have been in our program for at least a year or so. We also have some incoming freshmen that should help immediately so we are excited about this year's team.” Coach Dobyns could not be reached for comment.

The Varsity Basketball team expects to face some challenges Coach Galyon commented, “We are still a young team with lots of underclassmen. We only have two seniors in Mia Dinkins and Gracie Bunch, so it will be super important that our young kids can mature fast because we play such a tough schedule. We need our kids to get game experience and learn on the go and hopefully we will see our team get better as the season goes on. Our kids that have been here and played varsity will be asked to lead us and help the younger kids. We are excited about this group and hope for great results.” While the girl’s Varsity team expects challenges this semester, their goal of making a sub-state game is unchanged.
