14 DECA students traveled to Chattanooga, TN on March 3-5 to compete in the Tennessee State DECA Conference.
DECA’s role-plays and case studies provide a student-centered engagement activity to help DECA members apply learning through problem-based activities that require creative solutions and practical outcomes. DECA’s role-plays and case studies challenge DECA members to demonstrate industry relevant knowledge and skills through performance indicators, while also developing important 21st Century Skills – creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communications.
Competing were:
Allie McKenna and Adison Manuel competed in the Hospitality Services Team Decision Making event.
Hallie Lane and Chloe Seal competed in the Buying and Merchandising Team Decision making.
Malachi Young competing in the Entrepreneurship event.
Isabella Swanson and Lauren Gray competing in the Marketing Management Team Decision Making Event.
Osiris Hernandez and Maritza Guzman competing in the Travel and Tourism Team decision making event.
Ashly Guzman and Cindy deLeon competed in the Sports and Entertainment Team Decision making event.
Kevon Campbell competed in the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Series event.
Brie Blevins competed in the Retail Merchandising Series Event.
Bode Watkins attended the DECA Leadership program which focuses on leadership skills, communication and collaboration.
Heading to the stage to receive special awards were:
Lauren Gray, who placed in the top five on the Marketing Management Team Decision Making Marketing Career Cluster Exam.
Brie Blevins, placed third in Retail Merchandising role play and placed third on the Marketing Career Cluster Exam in her division.
Receiving special recognition and a glass DECA award were:
Chloe Seal, Buying and Merchandising Team Decision Making received first place on the Marketing Career Cluster Exam.
Hallie Lane and Chloe Seal, placed first place in state, in Buying and Merchandising Team Decision Making event and will advance to compete at ICDC, International Career Development Conference in Atlanta GA, April 23-36.
